COURSE OUTLINE= 10.5 CEUs (FPTA ACCREDIT)

 1 ) Introduction to Physiotraining -(30 min)

 2) Data Collection in Physiotraining -(1:30 min)

 a) Brief over view of relevant data to collect before starting with a post rehabilitation client and  relevance to injury

prevention goals and correct exercise applications to meet those goals.

 3) Communication and Client Education in Personal Training following a Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation episode (1 hr.).

 4) REVIEW of First Aid overview and Signs to recognize to refer client back to clinical  practitioner. (45 min)

 i) Overview of first aid recognition and assessment of needing other, more serious medical goals

ii) Functional training – relevance to Physiotraining and personal training

iii) Protect tissue, reduce pain and inflammation

iv) Review:

1 ) Bed mobility (is your client having difficulty moving in bed)

 2) Transfers (getting up and down from chairs and beds)

3) Gait (how effective is the client’s walk)

v) Protect tissue, reduce pain and inflammation

1) Using the body to heal itself

5) Physiotraining™ for Specific Post-Rehabilitation Disorders (2:15 hrs.)

 A) Exercise

 a) Active exercise

 b) Posture, postural control/core stabilization.

 c) Dynamic balance

 d) Functional exercise progressions and regressions/closed chain.

 e) Conditioning and endurance exercise

 1) Increase workload over time

 2) Movement efficiency and energy conservation training

  3) Walking/wheelchair

 

f) Begin Resistive exercise

a) Sport specific, agility and

b) Weight lifting techniques and postures

6) Several phases exercises for post rehabilitation clients discharged from treatments

With neck, back, shoulder, heart/lung, knee and hip issues. (3hrs)

ASSESSMENT OF LEARNER OUTCOMES:

Assessment methods include, but may not be limited to: written quizzes, presentations via telecommunication to assigned instructor or proctor, homework assignments and final certification examination.
